Three ledgers that never mix

Shram Setu — Paid work The person asking pays · Rupees, at or above the applicable minimum wage Terms agreed before acceptance. Ordinary employment, ordinary protections.
Seva Ghadi — Neighbourly help Nobody pays · Time credits Capped monthly. Never convertible to cash. Never for anything a worker would otherwise be paid for.
Sahayata — Sponsored The unit fund pays · Rupees, at or above the applicable minimum wage For residents who cannot pay. They may offer food or time in return — the worker is still paid properly in cash.
The line that keeps it honest. If a task appears on the paid exchange, it can never be requested through the time bank instead. Nobody works for scraps because they are poor, and nobody is refused help because they are poor.

Seva Ghadi

Time, not money

12.5 hours earned this year

Monthly cap

Credits never become cash, and never buy anything a worker would otherwise be paid to do. The cap exists so the time bank cannot quietly turn into unpaid labour.

Why local first

Found in unit 71%
Neighbours 18%
Sangam 8%
National 3%

Seven tasks in ten never leave the unit. That is what keeps small-service spending in the local economy — and it is also why the exchange has to reach further for the three in ten that cannot be done next door.

Trust and safety

  • Verification proportionate to the task — not a background check to carry rice
  • Price agreed in writing before the work starts
  • Ratings built so one complaint cannot permanently end someone's earning
  • Insurance and a grievance route for higher-risk work
  • Hard prohibitions on child labour, coercion and hazardous informal work
